Financial planning for families with a lot on their plate

A child with special needs. A parent starting to need help. A retirement you'd like to actually enjoy. Sometimes all three at once. We plan for the families other advisors find complicated, with every cost published before you ever call.

Planning for your family's unique needs. That's been on our logo, and our office wall, from the start. It's the whole practice in six words.

Who we help

Three kinds of families walk through our door

Maryland Financial Advocates and LPL Financial do not provide legal advice or tax services. Please consult your legal advisor or tax advisor regarding your specific situation.

Meet Colin

Thirty years of planning.

Colin Meeks has been in financial planning since 1994, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ since 2001, and a Baltimore guy his whole life.

The style here is laid back and thorough: no pitch, no jargon, no pretending the market is predictable. People walk in braced for the hard sell and walk out saying the same thing. That was way different.

"I definitely can't help everyone that stops by our website. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't connect."

How it works

Three steps, with clear pricing

1

A 15-minute intro call

Complimentary

You talk, we listen, and we both find out if working together makes sense. If it doesn't, we'll point you somewhere useful and part as friends.

2

Planning and collaboration

$500, one time

Two meetings. We review your taxes, investments, insurance, and documents, then hand you a written plan with a timeline, a personalized tax analysis, and a full breakdown of what hiring us ongoing would cost.

3

Hire us, or take the plan and run

Your call

Become an ongoing client and we implement, manage, and meet with you on a set service calendar. Or take the plan and the checklist and do it yourself, with no hard feelings. Plenty of people do.

Prefer listening? The Financial Advocate has been running for over a decade: bi-weekly, about 10 minutes an episode, one planning idea at a time. Find the show here.

Questions people actually ask

  • The intro call is complimentary. A full planning engagement, two meetings, a written plan, and a personalized tax analysis, is a one-time $500. If you hire us afterward for ongoing investment management, fees follow a published schedule starting at 1.15% and stepping down as assets grow.

Every cost, including how we're paid on insurance, is spelled out on the pricing page. You shouldn't have to book a meeting to find out what the meeting leads to.

Start with a 15-minute call. It's complimentary.

Tell us what's on your plate. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and you'll know exactly what working together costs before you commit to anything.

Prefer the phone? Call 410-663-0700 and ask for Colin.
